ALTAR OF THE DEAD – GROUP MADE ALTAR – AFTERNOON WORKSHOP
The altar to the dead is a widely spread tradition with religious and family values practiced all around Mexico. It is celebrated near the day dedicated to the the dead, november 1 and 2. In this tradition the families remember and honor those who have parted offering them food, beverages and the things they liked most. Also the children go door to door in their surrounding area asking “¿No me da mi calavera?” – Wouldn´t you give my skull? in order to get candy or money to purchase candies.
Join the group to create an altar to remember and honor those who passed away in the community or in your family. You can bring your own altar items such as photographs, favorite possessions or most liked food and beverages.
