About the John Main Seminar

It has been organized by the World Community for Christian Meditation in various countries and has become an annual event since 1984. It was established to honor the memory of Fr. John Main and his legacy to broaden and deepen the teaching of Christian Meditation. Previous hosts include His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Cardinal Walter Kaspar, former Irish President Mary McAleese, and contemplative Christians Abbot Thomas Keating, former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, and Father Richard Rohr.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Transportation from and to the International Airport of Mexico City, must be arranged by each Pre Seminar Retreat participant.

We can offer guidance and suggestions but each person is responsible to get to the retreat location on time before monday october 19 at 1 p.m.

HOSPITALS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
There are several private hospitals close to the pre-seminar retreat venue, one of them is at a 5 min distance.
Red Cross and emergency services can be reached by phone an they can arrive within a 15 to 20 minutes.
Medical assistance on site. There is no doctor or medical assistance at the CEM but paramedics can be called and arrive rapidly.
Medical Insurance and coverage. We suggest you contact your insurance company to ask the coverage they offer in case of need.
The Pre-seminar retreat and Seminar organizers will always be near to help in case of need.

INTERNET AND CELLPHONE SIGNAL COVERAGE

CEM, the seminar venue, has a good quality Wifi network which can sometimes be saturated when many people in the same place use broadband services like video or audio listening. Some phone companies have roaming services arrangements with the main Internet and phone service providers which are Telmex, ATT, Movistar Telefonica.

The quality of cellular communications is adequate as it has good area coverage by the major communications providers.

WEATHER FORECAST

The zone of Cuatitlan Izcalli where the pre-seminar retreat venue is located has a very nice temperate climate. The month when the seminar will take place, October, has a typical mild autumn climate with high temperatures average of  75°F, rarely falling below 68°F or exceeding 82°F and low temperatures average of 55°F, rarely falling below 49°F or exceeding 58°F. Normally there are partly cloudy skies and the rain probability runs in the 20% to 30% range.

DRESS CODE
 There is no actual dress code. Bring comfortable clothes that you can mix and match and that you’ll feel comfortable meditating in them. For the dinner party, for women: just bring whatever makes you feel at ease, blouses, skirts, shorts, pants, nothing fancy. For men: jeans, khakis, t-shirts, informal shirts, a sweater, maybe a jacket. Nothing formal.

SECURITY AT THE SEMINAR

The Pre-Seminar Silent Retreat will be held in a private, closed and safe environment. The access to the premises is  supervised 24 hrs by security trained personnel.

TRAVEL IN MEXICO

Consider traveling in Mexico, as safe as any other country.
