Permaculture and organic agriculture consultant and Anglican “Eco-Deacon”
(Rev) Ron Berezan lives in the traditional territory of the Tla’Amin First Nation (Powell River, BC, Canada). He is a permaculture and organic farming teacher and consultant working with communities across Canada and in Cuba (see www.theurbanfarmer.ca).
Ron works closely with the Kanaka Bar First Nation in BC where he has been facilitating food security and permaculture projects for the past 4 years. Ron is ordained as an “eco-deacon” within the Anglican Church of Canada and has a ministry focus of Earth Justice and Creation-centred spirituality. At his home parish in Powell River, he facilitates a community permaculture project which freely provides organic food, biodiversity, social gathering spaces and beauty for the surrounding community. Ron met Ivan through a carving project on the parish grounds seeking to bring attention to indigenous justice issues and the call to reconciliation. Ron is currently working on the development of “Blueberry Commons” – a sustainable housing cooperative and organic farm where he lives with his wife Laura in Powell River.
